Use Cmd/Ctrl + F to open the global Find & Replace dialog, which can search layer names, text content, and more.
Search Features
Partial Matching
Search matches any part of the layer name. For example, searching "btn" will find "primary-btn", "btn-submit", and "mybtn".
Case Insensitive
Searches ignore case, so "Button", "button", and "BUTTON" all match the same layers.
Highlighting Results
Matching layers are highlighted in the panel, and non-matching layers are dimmed but still visible for context.
Filter by Type
Click the filter button to show only specific element types:
Frames
Show only frame elements, useful for finding layout containers.
Groups
Show only groups, helpful for managing organized collections.
Shapes
Show rectangles, circles, and other shape elements.
Text
Show only text layers, great for content editing.
Images
Show only image elements for asset management.
Filter by Status
Additional filters help you find layers by their current state:
| Filter | Shows |
|---|---|
| Hidden layers | Layers that are currently invisible |
| Locked layers | Layers that are locked from editing |
| Selected layers | Only currently selected elements |
Combining Filters
You can combine search with type filters for precise results:
- Search "icon" + filter "Shapes" = Find all shape layers with "icon" in the name
- Search "header" + filter "Text" = Find all text layers in headers
- Filter "Hidden" + filter "Images" = Find all hidden image layers

Best Practices
- Name your layers - Generic names like "Rectangle 47" are hard to find
- Use prefixes - Group related layers with common prefixes
- Be descriptive - "login-form-email-input" is better than "input1"
- Organize into frames - Helps narrow down search scope
